Outlook 2013 (not office 365) "We didn't find anything to show here" using POP 3 on Hotmail account

Hello - I read some threads on this problem but I don't have Exchange or IMAP.  It's  the standard POP 3 interface.  Migrated from Outlook 2003 to 2013 and have the PST from Hotmail - linked into the Outlook 2013. It shows NO messages yet under properties the PST shows lots of stuff in various subfolders.  The PST for Earthlink (which is primary) is working fine - messages show.

I tried some of the solutions showing for IMAP (not all can be used) but to no avail.

Also - since this is a Win8.1 machine - does the fact that the hotmail comes up naturally in Windows for the hotmail account defeat it in Outlook 2013?

In the old 2003 Outlook we used the Outlook Connector - I didn't see anything about installing that for the Outlook 2013.

Thanks very much!

Hi,

May I know what the size of the .pst file is? If there are obviously some items in the .pst file but we can't see anything, it could be a view issue, while the .pst file is selected, click VIEW -> Current View -> Reset View. Check if you can see these items after the view is reset.

We can also start Outlook with the /cleanviews command to try again:

Press Win + R, type "outlook.exe /cleanviews" in the Run dialog, press Enter.

Then all the custom views will be removed, Outlook will reset default views.

In case the .pst file is corrupted, I suggest you run Scanpst.exe to scan and repair the errors in the file, this may also help in this scenario:

We can also logon the Hotmail webmail, check if these emails are available online: www.live.com

As you mentioned you were using Outlook Connector for the account in Outlook 2003, in Outlook 2013 you can try to setup the Hotmail account as an Exchange ActiveSync account instead. You won't need to configure the incoming or outgoing servers, only the account name and password are needed.
